1.이 멜기세덱은 살렘 왕이요 지극히 높으신 하나님의 제사장이라 여러 왕을 쳐서 죽이고 돌아오는 아브라함을 만나 복을 빈 자라 2.아브라함이 모든 것의 십분의 일을 그에게 나누어 주니라 그 이름을 해석하면 먼저는 의의 왕이요 그 다음은 살렘 왕이니 곧 평강의 왕이요 3.아버지도 없고 어머니도 없고 족보도 없고 시작한 날도 없고 생명의 끝도 없어 하나님의 아들과 닮아서 항상 제사장으로 있느니라 4.이 사람이 얼마나 높은가를 생각해 보라 조상 아브라함도 노략물 중 십분의 일을 그에게 주었느니라 5.레위의 아들들 가운데 제사장의 직분을 받은 자들은 율법을 따라 아브라함의 허리에서 난 자라도 자기 형제인 백성에게서 십분의 일을 취하라는 명령을 받았으나 6.레위 족보에 들지 아니한 멜기세덱은 아브라함에게서 십분의 일을 취하고 약속을 받은 그를 위하여 복을 빌었나니 7.논란의 여지 없이 낮은 자가 높은 자에게서 축복을 받느니라 8.또 여기는 죽을 자들이 십분의 일을 받으나 저기는 산다고 증거를 얻은 자가 받았느니라 9.또한 십분의 일을 받는 레위도 아브라함으로 말미암아 십분의 일을 바쳤다고 할 수 있나니 10.이는 멜기세덱이 아브라함을 만날 때에 레위는 이미 자기 조상의 허리에 있었음이라. [ESV] 1 For this Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of the Most High God, met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings and blessed him, 2 and to him Abraham apportioned a tenth part of everything. He is first, by translation of his name, king of righteousness, and then he is also king of Salem, that is, king of peace. 3 He is without father or mother or genealogy, having neither beginning of days nor end of life, but resembling the Son of God he continues a priest forever. 4 See how great this man was to whom Abraham the patriarch gave a tenth of the spoils! 5 And those descendants of Levi who receive the priestly office have a commandment in the law to take tithes from the people, that is, from their brothers, though these also are descended from Abraham. 6 But this man who does not have his descent from them received tithes from Abraham and blessed him who had the promises. 7 It is beyond dispute that the inferior is blessed by the superior. 8 In the one case tithes are received by mortal men, but in the other case, by one of whom it is testified that he lives. 9 One might even say that Levi himself, who receives tithes, paid tithes through Abraham, 10 for he was still in the loins of his ancestor when Melchizedek met him.

1. 아브라함보다 높은 멜기세덱 - Melchizedek, higher than Abraham.

이사야(Isaiah) 9:6-7, 6.이는 한 아기가 우리에게 났고 한 아들을 우리에게 주신 바 되었는데 그의 어깨에는 정사를 메었고 그의 이름은 기묘자라, 모사라, 전능하신 하나님이라, 영존하시는 아버지라, 평강의 왕이라 할 것임이라. 7.그 정사와 평강의 더함이 무궁하며 또 다윗의 왕좌와 그의 나라에 군림하여 그 나라를 굳게 세우고 지금 이후로 영원히 정의와 공의로 그것을 보존하실 것이라 만군의 여호와의 열심이 이를 이루시리라. 6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. 7 Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end, on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from this time forth and forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this.
2. 레위 지파 제사장들보다 높은 멜기세덱 - Melchizedek, higher than the priests of the tribe of Levi.

3. 멜기세덱의 반차를 따라 영원히 대제사장이 되신 예수 그리스도 – Jesus Christ having become a high priest forever after the order of Melchizedek.
히브리서(Hebrews) 6:19-20, 19.우리가 이 소망을 가지고 있는 것은 영혼의 닻 같아서 튼튼하고 견고하여 휘장 안에 들어 가나니 20.그리로 앞서 가신 예수께서 멜기세덱의 반차를 따라 영원히 대제사장이 되어 우리를 위하여 들어 가셨느니라. 19 We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters into the inner place behind the curtain, 20 where Jesus has gone as a forerunner on our behalf, having become a high priest forever after the order of Melchizedek.

사도행전(Acts) 3:15-16, 15.생명의 주를 죽였도다 그러나 하나님이 죽은 자 가운데서 그를 살리셨으니 우리가 이 일에 증인이라 16.그 이름을 믿으므로 그 이름이 너희가 보고 아는 이 사람을 성하게 하였나니 예수로 말미암아 난 믿음이 너희 모든 사람 앞에서 이같이 완전히 낫게 하였느니라. 15 and you killed the Author of life, whom God raised from the dead. To this we are witnesses. 16 And his name—by faith in his name—has made this man strong whom you see and know, and the faith that is through Jesus has given the man this perfect health in the presence of you all.
사도행전(Acts) 4:12, 12.다른 이로써는 구원을 받을 수 없나니 천하 사람 중에 구원을 받을 만한 다른 이름을 우리에게 주신 일이 없음이라 하였더라. 12 And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”
