TEXT PASSAGE: 전도서(Ecclesiastes) 4:7-16, [개역개정:NIV]

7.내가 또 다시 해 아래에서 헛된 것을 보았도다 8.어떤 사람은 아들도 없고 형제도 없이 홀로 있으나 그의 모든 수고에는 끝이 없도다 또 비록 그의 눈은 부요를 족하게 여기지 아니하면서 이르기를 내가 누구를 위하여는 이같이 수고하고 나를 위하여는 행복을 누리지 못하게 하는가 하여도 이것도 헛되어 불행한 노고로다 9.두 사람이 한 사람보다 나음은 그들이 수고함으로 좋은 상을 얻을 것임이라 10.혹시 그들이 넘어지면 하나가 그 동무를 붙들어 일으키려니와 홀로 있어 넘어지고 붙들어 일으킬 자가 없는 자에게는 화가 있으리라 11.또 두 사람이 함께 누우면 따뜻하거니와 한 사람이면 어찌 따뜻하랴 12.한 사람이면 패하겠거니와 두 사람이면 맞설 수 있나니 세 겹 줄은 쉽게 끊어지지 아니하느니라 13.가난하여도 지혜로운 젊은이가 늙고 둔하여 경고를 더 받을 줄 모르는 왕보다 나으니 14.그는 자기의 나라에서 가난하게 태어났을지라도 감옥에서 나와 왕이 되었음이니라 15.내가 본즉 해 아래에서 다니는 인생들이 왕의 다음 자리에 있다가 왕을 대신하여 일어난 젊은이와 함께 있고 16.그의 치리를 받는 모든 백성들이 무수하였을지라도 후에 오는 자들은 그를 기뻐하지 아니하리니 이것도 헛되어 바람을 잡는 것이로다. [NIV] 7.Again I saw something meaningless under the sun: 8.There was a man all alone; he had neither son nor brother. There was no end to his toil, yet his eyes were not content with his wealth. "For whom am I toiling," he asked, "and why am I depriving myself of enjoyment?" This too is meaningless-- a miserable business! 9.Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work: 10.If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up! 11.Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? 12.Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken. 13.Better a poor but wise youth than an old but foolish king who no longer knows how to take warning. 14.The youth may have come from prison to the kingship, or he may have been born in poverty within his kingdom. 15.I saw that all who lived and walked under the sun followed the youth, the king's successor. 16.There was no end to all the people who were before them. But those who came later were not pleased with the successor. This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind.

 

Question: 모든 것이 헛되어 보이는 세상에서 무엇을 추구해야 하나? - What should we pursue in the world where everything seems futile?

 

OUTLINE: 세 겹 줄은 쉽게 끊어지지 아니하느니라.(A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.)

1.     끝 없는 수고가 헛되다. - Endless toil is in vain.

2.     최고의 권력도 헛되다. - Even supreme power is in vain.

3.     함께함으로 행복을 누려라. - Enjoy happiness by being together.

 

창세기(Genesis) 1:27, 27.하나님이 자기 형상 곧 하나님의 형상대로 사람을 창조하시되 남자와 여자를 창조하시고 27.So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.

창세기(Genesis) 2:18, 18.여호와 하나님이 이르시되 사람이 혼자 사는 것이 좋지 아니하니 내가 그를 위하여 돕는 배필을 지으리라 하시니라. 18.The LORD God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him."

마태복음(Matthew) 18:19-20, 19.진실로 다시 너희에게 이르노니 너희 중의 두 사람이 땅에서 합심하여 무엇이든지 구하면 하늘에 계신 내 아버지께서 그들을 위하여 이루게 하시리라 20.두세 사람이 내 이름으로 모인 곳에는 나도 그들 중에 있느니라. 19."Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. 20.For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them."

히브리서(Hebrews) 10:24-25, 24.서로 돌아보아 사랑과 선행을 격려하며 25.모이기를 폐하는 어떤 사람들의 습관과 같이 하지 말고 오직 권하여 그 날이 가까움을 볼수록 더욱 그리하자. 24.And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. 25.Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another--and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

로마서(Romans) 8:28, 28.우리가 알거니와 하나님을 사랑하는 자 곧 그의 뜻대로 부르심을 입은 자들에게는 모든 것이 합력하여 선을 이루느니라. 28.And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

 

CONCLUSION: 사랑하는 성도들이 수고도 권력도 헛된 줄 알고 함께 행복을 누려가시기를 바랍니다. - I pray that you know that your hard work and power are in vain so that you may enjoy happiness together.
