34.예수께서 사두개인들로 대답할 수 없게 하셨다 함을 바리새인들이 듣고 모였는데 35.그 중의 한 율법사가 예수를 시험하여 묻되 36.선생님 율법 중에서 어느 계명이 크니이까 37.예수께서 이르시되 네 마음을 다하고 목숨을 다하고 뜻을 다하여 주 너의 하나님을 사랑하라 하셨으니 38.이것이 크고 첫째 되는 계명이요 39.둘째도 그와 같으니 네 이웃을 네 자신 같이 사랑하라 하셨으니 40.이 두 계명이 온 율법과 선지자의 강령이니라. [ESV] 34 But when the Pharisees heard that he had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered together. 35 And one of them, a lawyer, asked him a question to test him. 36 “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” 37 And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. 38 This is the great and first commandment. 39 And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. 40 On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.”
Question: 예수님께서 우리에게 하신 최고의 명령은 무엇인가? - What is the greatest commandment that Jesus gave us?
INTRODUCTION: [그 중의 제일은 사랑이라.] - The greatest of these is love.
고린도전서(1 Corinthians) 13:1-7&13, 1.내가 사람의 방언과 천사의 말을 할지라도 사랑이 없으면 소리 나는 구리와 울리는 꽹과리가 되고 2.내가 예언하는 능력이 있어 모든 비밀과 모든 지식을 알고 또 산을 옮길 만한 모든 믿음이 있을지라도 사랑이 없으면 내가 아무 것도 아니요 3.내가 내게 있는 모든 것으로 구제하고 또 내 몸을 불사르게 내줄지라도 사랑이 없으면 내게 아무 유익이 없느니라 4.사랑은 오래 참고 사랑은 온유하며 시기하지 아니하며 사랑은 자랑하지 아니하며 교만하지 아니하며 5.무례히 행하지 아니하며 자기의 유익을 구하지 아니하며 성내지 아니하며 악한 것을 생각하지 아니하며 6.불의를 기뻐하지 아니하며 진리와 함께 기뻐하고 7.모든 것을 참으며 모든 것을 믿으며 모든 것을 바라며 모든 것을 견디느니라 13.그런즉 믿음, 소망, 사랑, 이 세 가지는 항상 있을 것인데 그 중의 제일은 사랑이라. 1 If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3 If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing. 4 Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant 5 or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; 6 it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. 7 Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. / 13 So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

1. 하나님을 전심으로 사랑하라. - Love God with all your heart.

신명기(Deuteronomy) 6:4-9, 4.이스라엘아 들으라 우리 하나님 여호와는 오직 유일한 여호와이시니 5.너는 마음을 다하고 뜻을 다하고 힘을 다하여 네 하나님 여호와를 사랑하라 6.오늘 내가 네게 명하는 이 말씀을 너는 마음에 새기고 7.네 자녀에게 부지런히 가르치며 집에 앉았을 때에든지 길을 갈 때에든지 누워 있을 때에든지 일어날 때에든지 이 말씀을 강론할 것이며 8.너는 또 그것을 네 손목에 매어 기호를 삼으며 네 미간에 붙여 표로 삼고 9.또 네 집 문설주와 바깥 문에 기록할지니라. 4 “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. 5 You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. 6 And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. 7 You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. 8 You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. 9 You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.
2. 이웃을 내 자신 같이 사랑하라. - Love your neighbor as yourself.
마태복음(Matthew) 22:39-40, 39.둘째도 그와 같으니 네 이웃을 네 자신 같이 사랑하라 하셨으니 40.이 두 계명이 온 율법과 선지자의 강령이니라. 39 And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. 40 On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.”
레위기(Leviticus) 19:1-4&17-18, 1.여호와께서 모세에게 말씀하여 이르시되 2.너는 이스라엘 자손의 온 회중에게 말하여 이르라 너희는 거룩하라 이는 나 여호와 너희 하나님이 거룩함이니라 3.너희 각 사람은 부모를 경외하고 나의 안식일을 지키라 나는 너희의 하나님 여호와이니라 4.너희는 헛된 것들에게로 향하지 말며 너희를 위하여 신상들을 부어 만들지 말라 나는 너희의 하나님 여호와이니라 17.너는 네 형제를 마음으로 미워하지 말며 네 이웃을 반드시 견책하라 그러면 네가 그에 대하여 죄를 담당하지 아니하리라 18.원수를 갚지 말며 동포를 원망하지 말며 네 이웃 사랑하기를 네 자신과 같이 사랑하라 나는 여호와이니라. 1 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 2 “Speak to all the congregation of the people of Israel and say to them, You shall be holy, for I the Lord your God am holy. 3 Every one of you shall revere his mother and his father, and you shall keep my Sabbaths: I am the Lord your God. 4 Do not turn to idols or make for yourselves any gods of cast metal: I am the Lord your God. / 17 “You shall not hate your brother in your heart, but you shall reason frankly with your neighbor, lest you incur sin because of him. 18 You shall not take vengeance or bear a grudge against the sons of your own people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the Lord.
요한1서(1 John) 4:7-12&16, 7.사랑하는 자들아 우리가 서로 사랑하자 사랑은 하나님께 속한 것이니 사랑하는 자마다 하나님으로부터 나서 하나님을 알고 8.사랑하지 아니하는 자는 하나님을 알지 못하나니 이는 하나님은 사랑이심이라 9.하나님의 사랑이 우리에게 이렇게 나타난 바 되었으니 하나님이 자기의 독생자를 세상에 보내심은 그로 말미암아 우리를 살리려 하심이라 10.사랑은 여기 있으니 우리가 하나님을 사랑한 것이 아니요 하나님이 우리를 사랑하사 우리 죄를 속하기 위하여 화목 제물로 그 아들을 보내셨음이라 11.사랑하는 자들아 하나님이 이같이 우리를 사랑하셨은즉 우리도 서로 사랑하는 것이 마땅하도다 12.어느 때나 하나님을 본 사람이 없으되 만일 우리가 서로 사랑하면 하나님이 우리 안에 거하시고 그의 사랑이 우리 안에 온전히 이루어지느니라. / 16.하나님이 우리를 사랑하시는 사랑을 우리가 알고 믿었노니 하나님은 사랑이시라 사랑 안에 거하는 자는 하나님 안에 거하고 하나님도 그의 안에 거하시느니라. 7 Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. 8 Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. 9 In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. 10 In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 12 No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us. / 16 So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.
3. 사랑을 행하며 살라. - Live a life of love.
야고보서(James) 1:22, 22.너희는 말씀을 행하는 자가 되고 듣기만 하여 자신을 속이는 자가 되지 말라. 22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.
마태복음(Matthew) 7:24-27, 24.그러므로 누구든지 나의 이 말을 듣고 행하는 자는 그 집을 반석 위에 지은 지혜로운 사람 같으리니 25.비가 내리고 창수가 나고 바람이 불어 그 집에 부딪치되 무너지지 아니하나니 이는 주추를 반석 위에 놓은 까닭이요 26.나의 이 말을 듣고 행하지 아니하는 자는 그 집을 모래 위에 지은 어리석은 사람 같으리니 27.비가 내리고 창수가 나고 바람이 불어 그 집에 부딪치매 무너져 그 무너짐이 심하니라. 24 “Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. 26 And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. 27 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.”
The rest of the Old Testament hangs from or flows out of these two commandments. All the other laws deal with specific applications of one or the other of these two commands. The prophets consistently stressed the importance of heart reality with God and genuine love for one’s neighbor. Without these two commandments the Old Testament lacks unifying summaries. These are the most important commandments, but they are not the only ones.
CONCLUSION: 사랑하는 성도들이 하나님을 전심으로 사랑하고 이웃을 내 자신 같이 사랑하며 살아 가시기를 바랍니다. – I pray that you live with loving God with all your hearts and loving your neighbors as yourselves.
