[ESV] 11 Therefore remember that at one time you Gentiles in the flesh, called “the uncircumcision” by what is called the circumcision, which is made in the flesh by hands— 12 remember that you were at that time separated from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world. 13 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. 14 For he himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility 15 by abolishing the law of commandments expressed in ordinances, that he might create in himself one new man in place of the two, so making peace, 16 and might reconcile us both to God in one body through the cross, thereby killing the hostility. 17 And he came and preached peace to you who were far off and peace to those who were near. 18 For through him we both have access in one Spirit to the Father. 19 So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, 20 built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, 21 in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord. 22 In him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit.

INTRODUCTION: [Temples of Solomon, Zerubbabel and Herod]
The Temple Mount in Jerusalem held three major historical Jewish temple eras: Solomon's Temple, Zerubbabel's Temple, and Herod's Temple. These structures served as the center of Jewish faith, worship, and sacrifice before their final destruction.
Solomon's Temple (The First Temple)
• Built: Around 966 BCE by King Solomon on Mount Moriah.
• Features: Contained the Holy of Holies and held the Ark of the Covenant.
• Destruction: Burned and destroyed by the Babylonian Empire under Nebuchadnezzar in 586 BCE.
Zerubbabel's Temple (The Second Temple)
• Built: Completed around 516 BCE by Jewish exiles returning from Babylon, led by Zerubbabel and Joshua.
• Features: Built on a simpler scale than the first temple. It did not have the original Ark of the Covenant.
• History: Later expanded and modified by the Hasmonean dynasty before Herod's massive renovation.
Herod's Temple (The Renovated Second Temple)
• Built: Started around 20–19 BCE by King Herod the Great to impress his subjects and expand the site.
• Features: Featured massive retaining walls, a doubled platform size, white stone, and multiple concentric courts. It was the grand temple that Jesus visited.
• Destruction: Burned and destroyed by the Roman army under Titus in 70 CE, leaving behind retaining structures like the Western Wall.
마가복음(Mark) 15:37-39, 37.예수께서 큰 소리를 지르시고 숨지시니라 38.이에 성소 휘장이 위로부터 아래까지 찢어져 둘이 되니라 39.예수를 향하여 섰던 백부장이 그렇게 숨지심을 보고 이르되 이 사람은 진실로 하나님의 아들이었도다 하더라. 37 And Jesus uttered a loud cry and breathed his last. 38 And the curtain of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. 39 And when the centurion, who stood facing him, saw that in this way he breathed his last, he said, “Truly this man was the Son of God!”

1. 우리의 과거 - Our Past

하나님을 몰랐으니 생명이 없었고, 이 세상만 바라보고 살았으니 소망도 없었다. 죄와 사망아래서 절망적으로 살고 있었다. 내 안에는 평화가 없었고, 모든 관계에 참 평화가 없었다.
2. 그리스도께서 하신 일 - What Christ did for us.

십자가는 화해와 평화를 가져온 사건이다. 모두 그리스도의 십자가때문에 생긴 일이다. 십자가는 하나님과 인간의 화해를 가져왔고 인간과 원수 관계인 다른 인간 간의 화해를 가져왔다. 이 모두가 그리스도의 피 때문이다.
3. 우리의 현재 - Our Present
에베소서(Ephesians) 2:19-22, 19.그러므로 이제부터 너희는 외인도 아니요 나그네도 아니요 오직 성도들과 동일한 시민이요 하나님의 권속이라 20.너희는 사도들과 선지자들의 터 위에 세우심을 입은 자라 그리스도 예수께서 친히 모퉁잇돌이 되셨느니라 21.그의 안에서 건물마다 서로 연결하여 주 안에서 성전이 되어 가고 22.너희도 성령 안에서 하나님이 거하실 처소가 되기 위하여 그리스도 예수 안에서 함께 지어져 가느니라. 19 So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, 20 built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, 21 in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord. 22 In him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit.
우리는 외국인도 나그네도 아니고, 하늘의 시민이요 권속이다. 사도들과 선지자들의 터 위에서 세움을 입은 영적인 성전이다. 따로가 아니고 함께이며, 나만이 아니라 우리가 되었다. 반목과 질시가 사라지고 화평과 평화가 찾아왔다. 참 하나님의 공동체의 가장 중요한 특징은 바로 하나됨이다. 하나님의 아들 예수께서 평화를 이루셨듯이, 우리가 화평케 하는 삶을 살 때 주께는 우리를 하나님의 아들이라 일컫느 복을 누리게하실 것이다.
CONCLUSION: 사랑하는 성도들이 반드시 그리스도의 피로 시작된 교회 공동체의 일원이 되어 함께 지어져 가기를 바랍니다. – I pray that you may become members of the church community founded by the blood of Christ and be built up together.
