마태복음(Matthew) 11:28-30, 28.수고하고 무거운 짐 진 자들아 다 내게로 오라 내가 너희를 쉬게 하리라 29.나는 마음이 온유하고 겸손하니 나의 멍에를 메고 내게 배우라 그리하면 너희 마음이 쉼을 얻으리니 30.이는 내 멍에는 쉽고 내 짐은 가벼움이라 하시니라. 28."Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29.Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30.For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." 

요한복음(John) 8:31-36, 31.그러므로 예수께서 자기를 믿은 유대인들에게 이르시되 너희가 내 말에 거하면 참으로 내 제자가 되고 32.진리를 알지니 진리가 너희를 자유롭게 하리라 33.그들이 대답하되 우리가 아브라함의 자손이라 남의 종이 된 적이 없거늘 어찌하여 우리가 자유롭게 되리라 하느냐 34.예수께서 대답하시되 진실로 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 죄를 범하는 자마다 죄의 종이라 35.종은 영원히 집에 거하지 못하되 아들은 영원히 거하나니 36.그러므로 아들이 너희를 자유롭게 하면 너희가 참으로 자유로우리라. 31.To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, "If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. 32.Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." 33.They answered him, "We are Abraham's descendants and have never been slaves of anyone. How can you say that we shall be set free?" 34.Jesus replied, "I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. 35.Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. 36.So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.
